We are looking for an HR Specialist

Finnfund is a Finnish development financier and impact investor. We build a sustainable future and generate lasting impact by investing in businesses that solve global development challenges. We invest 200–250 million euros in 20–30 companies in developing countries each year. Our focus sectors include renewable energy, sustainable forestry, sustainable agriculture, financial institutions, and digital infrastructure and solutions. Today Finnfund’s investments and commitments total about 1.070 billion euros, half of them in Africa. The company has 90 employees.

We are now looking for a

HR Specialist

for a full-time, permanent position in Helsinki.

What you will be doing

During the coming years, Finnfund will focus on developing its corporate culture and employer brand. We will also strengthen the leadership skills of our supervisors and improve our competence management. You will be involved in all this and much more together with your colleagues as Finnfund grows and becomes more international. You will work in a team of four people that values a relaxed atmosphere, a good sense of humour and where everyone can do everything related to HR. This means that your wide-ranging HR expertise will grow and evolve with the task. At the moment, we work on creating content for employer branding, are in the process of introducing a new learning management system and will systemise our cooperation with educational institutions. In your daily work, you will guide your colleagues at Finnfund on various employment related issues, advise our staff members in using our software systems and organise various internal trainings and events. The job description will develop according to your skills and experience.

The key areas of responsibility include:

  • working as the administrator of various HR systems such as Sympa and Tiima and instruct and train the staff in using these
  • answering staff questions about our house rules, applicable legislation and collective agreement
  • handling HR communication in different channels
  • participating in the planning of internal trainings and in the creation and development of a learning management system
  • participating in maintaining and developing Finnfund’s employer brand
  • participating in the development of employee well-being at work and work ability management processes
  • being responsible for payroll and absence accounting
  • assisting supervisors in recruitment and ensuring a good experience for all applicants
  • taking care of the onboarding and exit processes
  • participating in handling HR related expense invoices
  • planning and organising events of all sizes for the Finnfund staff

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of wide-ranging HR experience and a degree appropriate for the position. You are solution-oriented, creative, and customer-oriented. You have an independent way of working and you enjoy teamwork. You take pride in performing your tasks well. You are familiar with labour legislation and collective agreement matters. Excellent IT skills will help you in your daily work. The task requires fluent proficiency in Finnish and English.
