We are now looking for an

Investment Manager, Digital Infrastructure and Solutions

for a full-time, permanent position in Helsinki.

What you will be doing

You will be responsible for identifying and developing new investment projects and managing client relations.

Digital Infrastructure and Solutions (DIS) is a newly established team within the investment function. DIS invests in profitable and high impact businesses within the emerging markets digital value chain, focusing on rural connectivity, access to data, and digital solutions that increase productivity and improve access to products and services. As an Investment Manager, you will be responsible for originating, developing, and executing new investment opportunities in the DIS sector. Part of the role is to manage the existing investment portfolio with the team.

You will be working closely with clients, co-investors, financial advisors, and other stakeholders within the emerging markets investment community and play a key part in the development of the DIS investment pipeline and portfolio.

You will be working closely with other members of the investment team and with colleagues from other internal functions such as environmental & social, development impact, and legal.

As Finnfund acts as an advisor and sole source for investments to the OP Finnfund Global Impact Fund I, you are expected to work with the Fund Managers of the Fund.

The key areas of responsibility include:

• Originating new investment opportunities and executing investments
• Leading the project team throughout the entire investment cycle, including pre-investment evaluation, preparation of investment committee materials, negotiations, structuring, and documentation
• Monitoring the development of digital infrastructure and solutions sectors in Finnfund’s target countries
• Actively participating in marketing of Finnfund and participating in relevant investment conferences, often as a speaker or panelist
• Building and maintaining relationships with investees, co-financers, and other stakeholders
• Developing internal skills and capabilities in digital infrastructure and solution spaces

What you will bring along

An ideal candidate should have a master’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 5 years of applicable professional experience from investment or corporate banking, management consultancy, PE or VC fund, or from a relevant corporate function with telecom and/or technology sector focus and demonstrated expertise in corporate finance. Excellent writing and communication skills in English are a prerequisite, while fluency in other languages and international investment experience are considered an asset.

We are looking for a candidate with strong communication and negotiation skills, who is social, results-oriented, and not afraid of challenges. The position requires some amount of travel in Finnfund’s target countries (once it is safe to do so after the COVID-19 pandemic).
