Would you like to be part of our growth and success and work with investments in developing countries We are now looking for a Portfolio Manager, Digital Infrastructure and Solutions for a full-time, permanent position in Helsinki. Digital Infrastructure and Solutions (DIS) is one of Finnfund’s focus sectors and we are now looking for a fourth member to the dedicated investment team. This is a new position in the team. DIS sector investments have a strong impact in our target countries. We invest in commercially attractive high impact businesses within the emerging markets digital value chain, focusing on rural connectivity, access to data, and digital solutions that increase productivity and improve access to products and services. DIS team’s recent investments include various emerging markets high impact and fast-growing companies such as Wave Mobile Money, BCS Group, Twiga, Jumo World, Kasha, and IPT Powertech. See more of our portfolio companies here. What you will be doing As a DIS Portfolio Manager, you will be mainly responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of existing investments in the sector. You will be working closely with portfolio companies’ management, co-investors, and other stakeholders within the emerging markets investment community. Portfolio management is teamwork: You will be working with the originating and executing members of the investment team and with colleagues from other internal functions such as environmental & social, development impact, and legal. The key areas of responsibility include: Monitoring the existing investments within the DIS portfolio Monitoring the agreements between Finnfund and portfolio companies Managing the negotiations and internal approval processes for potential waivers, changes in agreements, additional financing requirements and restructurings Preparing annual reporting to the Portfolio Management Committee Keeping regular contact with the portfolio companies and regularly visiting companies to meet management, other stakeholders and to gain understanding of the operating environment Working actively to identify new investment opportunities from existing portfolio and networks Actively finding ways to constant development of Finnfund’s portfolio management practices, DIS sector operations, and investment function as a whole When possible, participating in the DIS sector’s new deal execution process at due diligence and documentation phase Supporting the DIS team in analysing new investment opportunities Developing internal skills and capabilities in digital infrastructure and solution space What you will bring along An ideal candidate should have a master’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 5 years of applicable professional experience from investment or corporate banking, management consultancy, PE or VC fund, or from a relevant corporate function with telecom and/or technology sector focus and demonstrated expertise in corporate finance. Excellent writing and communication skills in English are a prerequisite, while fluency in other languages and international investment experience are considered an asset. We are looking for a candidate with strong communication and negotiation skills who is social, results-oriented, and not afraid of challenges. The position requires some amount of travel in Finnfund’s target countries. In today’s hybrid working environment excellent ICT skills are required. What’s in it for you We are based in Helsinki.
