17/12/2007

Finnfund supports women’s work in developing countries by participating in the Women’s Bank. FinnChurchAid’s Women’s Bank is a charitable fund. Donations are used to enhance women’s rights, skills and livelihoods. The Women’s Bank was established in January 2007.Africa.jpg

Funds are provided for small-scale microcredit schemes, to conduct professional training, to acquire tools and materials, and to otherwise help women build up small businesses.

The Women’s Bank supports innovative schemes and pilot projects to help women increase their income. Helping women through investments that will have long-term benefit, is one of the best ways to support whole families and reduce poverty.

The Women’s Bank ultimately aims to fund schemes in all the regions where FinnChurchAid works, but for now the emphasis is on projects in Africa
