Clean Globe International Oy awarded in the national Cleantech Finland® competition

Clean Globe International was awarded for its new, efficient systems for oil spill prevention in the Cleantech Finland® -competition's International Cooperation category. Clean Globe International is setting up regional oil spill recovery centers in Russia and its neighbouring countries. 

Clean Globe International was awarded for its new, efficient systems for oil spill prevention and response. Clean Globe International is expanding its oil spill recovery centers to Russia and the neighbouring countries.

Finnish recipients of the European Business Awards for the Environment 2008 were presented on 7 November 2007 at the final seminar in Sitra’s Environmental Programme. Six companies were awarded, Clean Globe International in the International Cooperation category.

Finnfund is financing, together with the EBRD, the expansion of Clean Globe International to Russia and the neighbouring countries. More details here.

Recognition to the companies considered pioneers in environmentally-friendly policies, products and processes

There were 11 entries in the Finnish national competition. Assessment focused on how environmentally friendly and innovative the entries were, and their performance in the market. The European Business Awards for the Environment spotlights companies that support sustainable development in their business operations. The companies receiving awards are considered pioneers in environmentally-friendly policies, products and processes.

The winners of the national competition will also participate in the EU-wide European Business Awards for the Environment competition, which is organised every other year.

In addition to Clean Globe International, five other companies were awarded: Neste Oil Oyj (NExBTL® - diesel fuel made from renewable raw materials), UPM-Kymmene Oyj (UPM ProFi Deck), Trans Veritas Oy (energy audits of transport chains), Outotec Oyj (ferrochrome production technology) and AkkuSer Oy (recycling process for batteries).

The Minister of the Environment Kimmo Tiilikainen, assisted by Pekka Ketonen, the Palkintojenjako_.jpgChairman of the jury and Senior Advisor to Sitra’s Environmental Programme, presented the awards to the winners. Mr Pekka Eskelinen from Clean Globe International Oy and Ms Tarja Myllymäki from Finnfund accepted the award on behalf of Clean Globe International.
