New Finnish business partnership programme

16/03/2006

Finnfund will launch a new business partnership programme called Finnpartnership in the beginning of June 2006. Finnpartnerhip offers companies a wide range of advisory services and support for business partnerships.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland has initiated a new business partnership programme, called Finnpartnership. The mission of Finnpartnership is to increase commercial cooperation between companies and organizations in Finland and developing countries.

Finnfund has been appointed to manage and implement the programme. The programme supports business projects that promote development goals and economic growth in developing countries by diversifying the structure of production and exports.

Advisory services and support for new business partnerships

Companies can approach Finnpartnership in matters concerning business operations in developing countries. From the beginning of June 2006, the programme will offer companies a wide range of advisory services and support for business partnerships through the various phases of projects in developing countries. Finnpartnership can operate in all developing countries according to the OECD’s DAC List (www.oecd.org/dac/stats/daclist).

Business Partnership Support Facility

Finnish companies can apply for grants through the Business Partnership Support Facility to implement projects in developing countries. The Support Facility will cover part of the expenses incurred when identifying business partners, preparing feasibility studies, drawing up business plans, training employees of the company in the developing country and the utilization of external experts in order to improve business prospects.

More information and conditions on the Business Partnership Support Facility will be available on the website www.finnpartnership.fi from May 2006 onwards.

New business opportunities and partners

Finnpartnership offers assistance to Finnish companies in exploring new business opportunities and finding partners in developing countries. Registered business opportunities will be published on the electronic match-making forum of the website. This information will also be sent directly to Finnish companies operating in corresponding business sectors.

In addition, Finnpartnership will be a channel for companies to obtain information about commercial sector actors in developing countries.

Finnpartnership supports companies throughout the life span of their projects by offering financial advisory services. It can assist in finding potential sources of finance for viable business projects. Finnpartnership can also assist companies in finding a qualified external expert to develop the business operations of a company in a developing country.
